Voided Checks

The Voided Checks command (On the full menu page, in the main Point of Sale (POS) menu) allows you to view and search though all voided items on checks in the system. The listing includes other forms of voids, but is defaulted to VOIDREST, which are the voids on restaurant checks.

It is essentially equivalent to a transaction log of all voids.

The screen display is split into two frames, with listings on the left-hand side and details of an individual listing on the right-hand side. Any changes made to a listing detail on the right, once saved, will be updated in the listings to the left.

Left frame: displays list of voided items on checks

List of Voided Checks

The top of the list has a record of how many void records are being displayed in the list, as well as the current void being highlighted and displayed in detail on the right. It also has the Search button and clear search button.

The list of voided items on checks is a scrollable, search-able database and can be sorted by:

Hotel (Name of property): If there is only one property, this will be blank. If there is more than one property, there will be a drop-down menu to choose from.

Type (of Void): When this screen is reached from the Point of Sale (POS) main menu, the default display is in the category VOIDREST, indicating restaurant voids. However there is a drop-down menu of all possible void types configured for the particular property.

Who: This is the person who entered the void (determined by log in, or passcode entry if required).

Date/Time :The list may be sorted in ascending or descending order.

Description: If you wish to search for a set of voids by their description, fill in the box below the heading with the desired text.

Use the text boxes and drop-down lists located at the top of the list to search or filter the list by the information entered. If using a text box to search the list, click the Search button above the criteria boxes to apply the search.

Any particular void can be selected to show a detailed view by clicking on it, and its details will be displayed on the right hand section.

The database can also be searched by entering in the specific data in the open field below each column heading.

Right frame: Displays the Detail View of the individual void specified on the left.

Detail view of individual Void

There are several fields in the detailed view. These include:

Type: The category the void is in.

Who: The person who entered the void (determined by log in, or passcode entry if required).

Date/Time: The date and specific time the void was generated.

Description: This shows the description of the void from the check, the check # and the value that was voided. You need to have a % at the beginning of the description search to search any/all words in the line, otherwise it needs to be an exact match. You can also use this and the check number to search by check.

The local toolbar contains the Advanced Search button and the Query Builder button, see Advanced Search or Query Builder for more details.
